More Supermodels

As planned, we checked out a few more model homes during the second weekend of Richmond’s Dream Home Tour last Saturday. And as promised in our previous post, we’re bringing you more observations from the wonderful world of new construction.

Just like the first weekend, we saw more big bedrooms, grandiose kitchens and surprisingly sophisticated designs. But here are some of the new things we saw.

A huge “outdoor kitchen” patio complete with a built-in grill that kinda puts our patio to shame.

And speaking of putting things to shame, this master closet is definitely larger than some of our bedrooms. Even my best efforts to touch both walls fell short (and I have a six foot wingspan). Although, with that much space I would’ve loved to see something nicer than wire shelving. Mahogony built-ins anyone?

We were also crazy jealous of this hardwood floor. It’s brand-spankin-new, but the wide planks are cleverly distressed to give them an aged effect. Oh and it should be noted that this was in the one-and-only ranch house featured in the entire 60-home tour.

And once again, we got a good chuckle out of all things faux. This time it was playing with all the fake props. For instance, Sherry’s finds blogging from her plastic laptop very frustrating.

So I decide we should drown our sorrows with a stiff drink. A very, very stiff drink.

Ugh! That closet is bugging me. I can’t say I like the wall color, valence, or especially the shelves!!!! But I do love the built-in grill…am keeping my hubby far away from your blog until that grill photo is far enough down the list that he doesn’t get any grand ideas! :D

plastic? that is really tacky. too bad too, because a closet that size would be amazing.

i love that patio!! :) wish it was in my yard.

Ok, I know this is an old post, but I had to respond because your photos made me laugh so hard. I’m completely loving your site and have been busy reading all your archives. Keep it up because I’ll be watching!
