A Healthy Serving Of Leafy Greens

Last week’s post about our floating CB2 vases elicited a reader request for some other vase options beyond the grasses that we had on display. So without further ado, we bring you a greener, more contemporary option:

Some simple cuttings from a tree out back (definitely more believable than any faux greenery we’ve seen) added a fresh dose of green and some clean organic shapes. And even though backyard clippings may need to be replaced on a weekly basis, they’re as easy on the wallet as they are on the eyes (read: free).

Still craving a few other floating vase ideas? A layer of sand with a tiny seashell or two on top would be a nice summer still life. Or how about some water, white pebbles and a beta fish in each one (they like small spaces so the vases should be plenty big)? You could also try anything from pussy willow branches to eucalyptus stems which both last forever (and the eucalyptus will smell delish, too). Fern clippings look feathery and fresh as well. Or how about the most realistic faux white orchid stems you can find (with real water in the vases for believability)? Methinks that would be super hotel chic. I bet you guys have lots of ideas too, so share and share alike.

There are three of these on their way to my house right now, but I have to know if the opening is really big enough for a fish.

I mean … oh.my.gosh I want a live fish hanging from my ceiling. How freaking cool would THAT BE?!?!?

Hey Mary,

The mouthes of our vases are about 3/4 of an inch wide so I guess it depends on the size of the beta- most of them aren’t wider than that, are they? Maybe it’s best to wait to receive your vases due to the fact that ours are about a year old and the current versions may be wider or narrower than the ones we have. But keep us posted as to what you choose to put in them… can’t wait to see pics!

xoxo,
Sherry
