Tag Team

Megan over at a life’s design tagged us last week - the equivalent of a bloggers chain mail.

The rules: Answer the following questions about yourself. At the end of the post you pass on the questions to other bloggers and list them. Then write them a comment telling them that they’ve been tagged and ask them to read your blog.

1. What did you do 10 years ago?

JOHN: It was the summer before my junior year of high school. This was the year my family took a 3 week, cross-country road trip. It was my parents’ way of making sure their children saw America… well, and a snippet of Canada. We made it from Virginia all the way to see family in Boise, Idaho and back.

SHERRY: I was actually on this crazy little show on MTV called FANatic. It was all about surprising people who were in love with some celebrity and flying them out to interview that person in the flesh. Pretty crazy for a 16 year old. I got surprised while lifeguarding and thrown right into a limo and flown to Chicago to interview my main man Eminem. Oh man was I obsessed with him in his “My Name Is” days. Embarrassing but true.

2. Five items on your to-do list:

JOHN: Sherry makes my to-do lists, so I’m gonna let her field this one.

SHERRY: It’s Sunday, and Father’s Day- so our list is as follows:
-Eat something yummy
-Go down to the river and relax in the 90 degree water
-Read on the daybed in the sunroom (John’s loving his new book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma)
-Write a blog post for tomorrow
-Food shopping (even though it’s Sunday and we hate going on the busiest day, it has to be done)

3. Snacks I enjoy:

JOHN: Wheat thins are like crack to me. I also eat a bowl of ice cream every night.

SHERRY: I’ve been on this cashew kick lately, and I’m always eating peanut butter out of the jar. I also join John in the ice cream before bed snacking sesh.

4. What would you do if you were a billionaire?

JOHN: Probably freak out. Don’t those people get kidnapped for ransom and stuff? I’d spend enough to make sure my family was taken care of and then I’d get rid of as much as I could so I could still feel like a normal person.

SHERRY: I’d pay off the mortgage and remember to put some away for the future. And I know we’d probably get a second car. Nothing too fancy, maybe a Nissan Rogue (we test drove one and John loved it). But I’m in agreement that we definitely wouldn’t get all Donald Trump on ya with a gilded gold bathtub or anything. You know what they say… more money, more problems.

5. Places I would live:

JOHN: I’m pretty happy with Richmond. Although my original dream was to retire to the Blue Ridge Mountains somewhere. And I’ve never been, but Portland, Oregon sounds like a utopia so I’ll put that on my list too.

SHERRY: Yeah, I think we’re Richmonders for life. But we love exploring so who knows what city we’ll drive through on one of our road trips and fall in love with.

6. Bloggers I am passing the challenge onto are (if you haven’t already been tagged):

Becoming Home, Making It Lovely, Pancakes & French Fries, Aimee’s Adventures

That was interesting! Geez Sherry, FANatic??!! (I’m actually a little jealous, I wanted to be chosen for Ricky Martin) Have you guys found a good place to buy food here in Richmond?

Ooh, this is a fun one! I will play along soon, but for now I will just enjoy your list. :)

Ohh, I’m originally from Portland (just moved to TX last summer). I can’t wait to move back there! You should definitely go visit.

EastEnd, we get our food at a variety of places. Our usual go-to for general groceries is Kroger because it’s close to us and reasonably priced. If we need something fancy we hit up Ukrop’s because they’ve got a bigger selection and better quality, but you usually pay for it. And if we’re going the bulk food route we hit up Sam’s Club or Wal-Mart. I also hear there’s a Whole Foods coming to the West End soon, if that’s your thing.

Lindsey, thanks for confirming my love of Portland! I think it’s because I’m a runner and that’s like runner’s mecca. We’ll keep you posted if we ever go…

Nuh-uh!! Fanatic?! I was mildly obsessed w/ that show (OK, really obsessed).

ITA, Portland is awesome! The hubs used to live near there–great food, culture, beautiful & near the coast. Worth a visit!

I would be honored to participate! Look for my list soon. :)

What, no one’s excited about my family road trip? Sure Sherry was on TV with a celebrity, but I spent 3 weeks in a minivan! C’mon!

:)
