Feeling A Little Horse
This just in. Target is the greatest place on earth. Look at the fantastic porcelain pony that came home with us for under 15 smackaroos.
And now a detail shot for all you equine admirers:
He’s quite at home with his other animal friends (from our ceramic dog in the sunroom and the concrete greyhound in the living room to the iron bull in the den). Gotta love the little animal kingdom we have going on around here. What do you guys (consciously or unconsciously) collect? Any bets on the next ceramic animal we’ll introduce to This Young House?

I would love to see a post from you guys on “how-to arrange your knick knacks like us without making them look like a bunch of random objects that you put on some tables around your house.”
There should be some sort of list of basic design rules. Please tell me there is! Of the few “knick knacks” I have (or can we call them design accessories??) I feel like they’re either being dwarfed by some other large object, or their arrangement just looks thoughtless and random (and believe me, I’ve actually sat down and tried to think of better arrangements!)
I hope a post soon has tips to share!! ;) hint hint!

Elephants. I collect them (selectively) and have always loved them. They are the next hot animal–but not in the same ol’ Thai/Indian way. I would love to see modern elephants, like your horse.
I’m going to guess some sort of bird.
At our house, we collect white serving pieces and pretty much anything blue!!
I tend to collect birds…without even knowing it but lately I’ve been much more aware! There’s one in each room of the house, I think.
I bought that same little guy this weekend!
